here's something sent by nathanmy: May copy nako Discotillion mula pa nung narinig ko Molotov sa NU medyo matagal na yun, inabangan ko na album nyo. Eto malupet nauna ko pa nakita yung kopya sa pirata kesa sa Music One, pero dont worry I have the original, di ako tanga, P280 na nga lang bibili pa ba ko ng pirata, and can I mention na kahit ibenta pa ng P450 yung album it would still be worth it.
Belat.
Posted by narda on Jan 23, '07 2:47 AM for everyone | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Rock | | Artist: | narda |
We saw this review from John in Friendster: Discotillion is irritatingly addictive. It is an 11-track album full of holler yet can bring your feet on the dance floor, a rush of noise in your ears but something you would want to play over and over, until, without notice, you just had your last song syndrome!
Me and my friends witnessed their album launch last October in Saguijo, and oh gravity, that was superb! People were standing on chairs to see a glimpse of Katwo Librando, the band vocalist, complete with long eyelashes and that sexy little black dress by Kate Torralba, as she screams her heart out, with all-out spunk, angst, and total control over the microphone. Hand claps can be heard all over the venue after each song.
My personal favorites include: Ang Mitsa (Lagi nang ako...nahuhuli), Gasolina (Paandarin mo ako, paliyabin mo ako) Molotov (Hipan mo na ang salbabida) and 100 Taon (Isang daan taon, isang daang luha). Take note: all their songs are written in the vernacular. How patriotic!Posted by narda on Jan 10, '07 5:16 AM for everyone | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Rock | | Artist: | narda |

A blog review of Discotillion, courtesy of faithcruz (in edited form): Early this year, kamikazee came out with the song narda, a homage to angel locsin who played the title character to the tv version of the superhero. Unknown to most people, the band Narda became Narda long before the infamous song came out. They're a pretty-known act in the underground circuit and has been around for years. They won NU rock awards' In the Raw award in 2003 and became a favorite of critics and afficionados since. I loved the band ever since I heard "swerte." They used to sound really indie, a little mushy but in a good way. Now their sound is reminiscent of 80's techno rock, Depeche Mode, New Order and the Cure.
They came up this year with "Discotillion" and the whole album has been on continous repeat mode in my player lately. It has the same Narda brand of music that somehow leaves you flushed, the happy kind. They have a way of producing songs that gives you good vibes (maybe because of all the synths). "Discotillion" (the album couldn't have a better title) makes you want to dance all throughout the record. and sing along with repetitive chorus lines that run around your head even after everything's quiet already. The song molotov's "mahal na mahal kita / wala kang mapapala", for instance, has been on my head like a bug ever since i heard it midyear on NU. That was why I truly waited for this album to come out. None of the songs disappointed me. My personal favorites though are molotov, ang mitsa, kay lab, alta presyon and kamikazee. Yes. Yhey have a song entitiled kamikazee. and no, it's not a homage to any tv star they idolize.
All in all, it's a good record. Worthy of the 280Php you're going to spend on it.

Short and concise. Simplicity is key to this review of Discotillion, courtesy of tweetch: i saw narda at corik's once. or twice. i thought shunning the bass and replacing it with keys would be crippling. guess i was wrong.
discotillion is brilliant. it's fiesty. it's skipping. it's a red bull to my ears.
Discotillion is like Pringles. Once you pop you can't stop. haha! Damn, the cd is addicting i can't even pick a favorite track.
Listen To Molotov, their first single i think, and you'll see hundreds of disco balls spinning in your head. for sure.Posted by narda on Oct 20, '06 6:43 PM for everyone | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Rock | | Artist: | Narda |
We really love to hear what people have to say about the album. Here's what touchingtongues has to say: ...some New Wave synthesizer, and a femme fetale vocalist meet in Narda's latest installment, Discotillion.
Or, it can be a rendezvous, featuring Franz Ferdinand and The Cardigans. Hitching in the band-wagon: the Chemical Brothers. Out of nowhere.
Narda grows up; unbuttons their days sporting the coat-and-tie Beatles sound, and now their party has come to life - after a hard day's night...
Discotillion is composed of 11 power cuts that emulate out-of-this-era sounds such as synthesizers, megaphones, and more. It's a fusion of modern disco and postmodern themes that makes this album a success. For me, this is the sound that best fits narda - ala-Garbage but original in its own right with the engaging lyrics and disco samples. The album includes "Molotov," which captures Discotillion's dominant impression - an amalagam of New Wave, Garage Rock, and more disco.
Discotillion's album cover captures the edgy sound. The album cover is a mixture of black and blue-pink neons and the Bauhaus font face - a fashion trend going on today that no one has ever attempted to inject the disco scene with. Plus, for sticker happy people, this album is for you!
This is Narda's break out album. Go buy it now. And don't pirate. Posted by narda on Oct 11, '06 5:53 AM for everyone | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Rock | | Artist: | Narda |
Here is the first ever review we came across online for Discotillion. Here's what ialapid thinks (yep, we do wanna hear what you think about Discotillion): More upbeat and intensely funky, Narda's new realease, Discotillion, epitomizes modern disco in the Philippines. With the new sound and a new lineup, Narda is now a whole new band with every element several levels higher. They have discarded the bass replacing it with funky funky synths and keyboards played by new members Jep Cruz and Yaps Estagle. Of course, keeping rock in tact, also new a member, Tani Santos' riffs fall so perfectly in place, completing the whole Narda sound. Katwo Librando's vocal skills are now more powerful hitting each note in each song with much precision. And because of drummer and main composer, Ryan Villena, beats and lyrics never fail to get a listener hooked. Their first single, "Molotov" caught listerners and was voted # 1 in NU107's Stairway to Seven charts with it's head-bopping beats, notorious lyrics and it's use of an amplifier (also as heard in other songs). Songs like "Ang Mitsa" and "Gasolina", pump up the whole Narda experience with Katwo's firey and powerful vocals. "100 Taon" describes the impossibilities (and the possibilities, just as well) in a relationship that everyone can absolutely relate to. One must love the deep male backups included in this song. "Kamikazee" was aptly included as perhaps a comeback to the band Kamikazee who incidentally popularized the song "Narda". Five more songs complete the rest of Discotillion. Another reason to buy the album is for the album layout. With it's black, light pink and light blue colors and flowery theme, it really is a Discotillion. All songs were written and arranged by Narda. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Sound Creation Studio, produced by Mike Dizon and Mong Alcaraz of Sandwich and was engineered by Shinji Tanaka. The album is soon to be released in record bars. Please buy an original copy. "Tuwing nalalapit, ako nama'y nananabik, tumatalon ang puso ko, bumibilis ang daloy ng dugo!" Hey Ia, we love you long time :D
