" INDIE MUSIC - THE FUTURE OF MUSIC "

Hi,

We are pleased to invite you to send your nominations for 2 upcoming independent music awards

a) Asia's First Independent Music Awards (AVIMA 2009) - in the categories of either hip-hop/rap, Pop/R&B, Dance or Rock. We even have a category called Genre bender for any songs that have more than 2 genre's in it

b) Best International Act for VIMA 2008 (Malaysia's First Independent Music awards)

The AVIMA 2009 will be held in Kuala Lumpur in March 2009, and to participate, do email us your songs at music@voize.my to be nominated in mp3 format or any readable format. AVIMA 2009 seeks to bring together and honor the best talent from the following countries : Japan, Hong Kong, India, China, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Philipines.We recognize you as one of the best independent acts in the region and we look forward to your participation.

VIMA 2008 on the other hand, is Malaysia's First Independent Music awards, honoring the best Malaysia independent acts. One of the categories of VIMA 2008 is Best International Act. We will pool together the best of Asia and shortlist to 6 final nominees for this category. We believe that you stand a good chance to make the cut.

Both AVIMA 2009 and VIMA 2008 is organized by the Asian lifestyle and entertainment website Voize.my (www.voize.my). The company is based in Malaysia, and intends to champion the rights of independent bands. We understand the plight and frustration of indie bands, and we wish to provide these two award platforms for indie bands to show the world of how independent bands are winning over millions of audiences around the world. Even here in Malaysia, indie bands struggle to surface because the bigger labels only give prominence and endorsements to the biggers more cosmetic bands that they can market. That's a real pity, because the "real" music resides within the spirit and hearts of independent acts.

Please take note, that the event will be held in Kuala Lumpur as we are using our own small marketing budget to organize the event and it wont be a glitzy or glamorous event. We just want to have it at a venue, call the media form around the region and honor the independent acts. As you may well know, most companies dont want to be associated with indie bands. But, we dont care and flick a middle finger to the corporations who dont see true talent. As such, if we dont get a big sponsor, then we will honor the bands in Kuala Lumpur. However, if we have a big sponsor, then perhaps we could get the money to fly you guys down here if you are one of the nominees.

We are very open about this with you because we dont want to set high expectations. The primary objective is to kick-off the first awards and recognize bands in our first year. Who knows, perhaps, this awards could grow into the world's best independent awards in years to come.

We will be working with the media in each country to try and support the awards and provide create more awareness to the public. Please let us know who are the best radio stations, newspapers, TV stations, webistes that we could write to, to help promote you and also the awards. We would be grateful if you could also get us the emails that we could write to.
Please refer to the attached Appendix (or scroll below) for the full list of award categories and awards criteria/regulations that can be considered for submission.
Nominations for VIMA 2008 and the best international act category is currently on-going until the 30th November 2008. All submissions must be material released between June 1st 2007 and November 30th 2008.You may also submit new material to be considered for the awards, as long as it reaches us before the deadline.You may submit as many entries as possible into the various categories. Alternately, you may refer to www.voize.my for on-going updates and information about VIMA

Nominations for the Asia Award, AVIMA 2009 starts from November 1st 2008 until January 31st 2009. Submissions must be for material between January 1st 2008 to January 1st 2009.The awards as we stated will be given out on March 21st, 2009.

If you are not able to email us your songs, then just point us to your website/myspace/youtube links for us to listen to your nominated songs.

"Independent" is defined by any song that is not linked with the 4 major labels Warner-EMI, Sony BMG or Universal Music. However if your song is distributed by the 4 major labels but they dont own the right to your song, and your song in itself is independent, then you may be eligible. The concept of the Independent awards is to honor songs and EP's and not albums.Listed below under APPENDIX A are all the categories and criteria you can refer to.

Submissions For Awards:

1. Must have been released between June 1st 2007 and November 30th 2008 for VIMA 2008 and Between January 1st 2008 and January 1st 2009 for AVIMA 2009, and not attached with any major recording label. You may submit a completely new or previously unreleased/unrecorded song or film/video submission specifically created for the awards.However submission must reach us by November 30th 2008 for VIMA 2008 and by January 31st 2009 for AVIMA 2009 .
2. Along with submission, please include the following details
i) Name of Song/Artist (Title of Film)
ii) Name Of Composer/Lyricist (Director of Film)
iii) Name Of Producer (Producer Of Film)
iv) Date Of Release
v) Artist Bio/MySpace/YouTube Links

3. Songs submitted must be at least 192 kbps Mp3 or Wave (Film in DVD Format)
4. Judges Decision are Final
